Cracow for school groups

    1° day ARRIVAL

    Arrival in Cracow, meeting with a tour leader, transfer from the airport to the hotel in Cracow, check-in, dinner.

    2° day OLD TOWN - WAWEL HILL

    All-day-stay in Cracow. Our visit in the city we start from Matejko Square, where we know a history of Kleparz and see a very important monument of Battle of Grunwald. The Square is a start’s point of Via Regia, the way, which kings of Poland go to the Wawel Castle and which we go this day.

    The next attraction is Barbakan, a fortified outpost once connected to the city walls. It is one of the few remaining relics of the complex network of fortifications and defensive barriers that once encircled the royal city. In the old times Barbakan was connected with Floriańska Gate, which we come to Old Town.

    The Via Regia leads us to the Main Square, one of the biggest city markets in the Europe. Here we can admire Sukiennice (medieval shopping gallery), the Town Hall Tower and St. Mary's Church – the most famous monuments in Cracow. We visit the church, where is the valuable Gothic Altarpiece by Veit Stoss. We also go to small Mariacki Square to hear the traditional Hejnał and wave to the Hejnalista.

    After that we go our Via Regia and hear about places and monuments connected to famous people from all over the world, such as Wierzynek Restaurant, Franciszkańska Street, where the Pope John Paul II met with young people, St. Peter and Paul Church and many others.

    In the end we reach the Wawel Hill. It is a place of great significance to the Polish people. We visit the Cathedral and Royal Castle.

    3° day KAZIMIERZ QUARTER

    Today we go to Kazimierz. It is a Cracow quarter composed of two parts: Christian and Jewish. We start from Christian part from Skałka, which means "a small rock" in Polish, is a small outcrop where the Bishop saint Stanislaus was slain by order of king Bolesław II the Bold in 1079. This action resulted in the king's exile and the eventual canonization of the slain bishop.

    Then we walk to the Wolnica Square, which was the market of medieval Kazimierz, when the quarter was separated city. We can notice similarity to the Main Square, because the cities were like a twins.

    In the evening we visit Jewish quarter. We walk down old, tight, narrow streets to see monuments connected to Jewish people, who live here for a long time. We hear about their history and see places, where they prayed, spent time such as synagogues, cemetery, Szeroka Street.

    We also go to New Square to taste a famous dainty – quiches. A free time, transfer to the hotel, overnight.

    4° day NOWA HUTA

    This day we spend in Nowa Huta, the quarter of Cracow, which is a souvenir of communism in Poland. To "correct the class imbalance", the authorities commenced building a satellite industrial town to attract people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to the region. Nowa Huta was started in 1949 as a separate town near. It was planned as a huge centre of heavy industry. The town was to become an ideal town for the Communist propaganda and populated mostly by industrial workers. On July 22, 1954, the Vladimir Lenin Steelworks was opened and in less than 20 years the factory became the biggest steel mill in Poland.

    Dinner, free time, transfer to the hotel, overnight.

    5° day OŚWIĘCIM - WIELICZKA

    This day we see two monuments included on the UNESCO list.

    After a breakfast we go to Oświęcim to visit Auschwitz concentration camp built and operated by the Third Reich in Polish areas annexed by Nazi Germany during World War II.

    Break for a dinner.

    Then we go to Wieliczka to visit the oldest salt mine in the Europe. The mine's attractions include dozens of statues and four chapels that have been carved out of the rock salt by the miners. The oldest sculptures are augmented by the new carvings by contemporary artists.

    Come back to the hotel.

    6° day DEPARTURE

    After the breakfast, transfer to the airport, departure
